Thanks for the nice things you said about my galleries, but this is not just a tit-for-tat comment. I am from Western North Carolina (Mitchell County) and enjoyment of your fine photographs was one the reasons I decided to post my little P&S galleries on PBase. Thanks again.

Hi Bob,Thanks for the advice, but I've got a Fuji S5600(no dust problem) and an Olympus E500(no dust problem),sadly I appear to be useless at keeping lenses free of finger prints, and general muck. This aspect of my photography needs attention.

Hi again, Bob. Thanks for the compliment and critique. I will have to make some adjustments to the "naturally occuring event" you mentioned. I see where the subject can use more emphasis with the visual interpretation of a...peculiar sound. :)

Hi Bob. Thanks for visiting and commenting. Working with HDR isn't easy even with the automated HDR merging feature in CS2 (which I heard about a week ago). You're right about the shadows. I think they are the most difficult to judge. Too often I've seen images posted with dull grays for shadows. I've been experimenting with localized contrast control and may have found at least one of the keys to making decent HDR images. Still much to learn.

Dear Bob Patton,
My name is Tomás Granados Salinas and I am a Mexican publisher. We have acquired the translation rights (into Spanish) for "e: The Story of a Number," by Eli Maor, a book originally published by Princeton University Press.
In the book there is a picture of the Gateway Arch. I found at www.pbase.com your photo, which I would like to use in the Spanish version of the book instead of the original one. We cannot pay any fee but we'll be happy of giving full credit to you.
Yours,
Tomás Granados Salinas
