Thank you for your beautiful and inspiring photos of China. My recent reading about modern China dwells too much on how thoughtless the modern Chinese are about their (formerly) beautiful landscape in an effort to be economically successful. I sought out beautiful photos to inspire me before my visit to China starting next week. Thanks for the EXIF info, too. It helps me to plan how to take my own pictures of beautiful China.

I stumbled upon you and what a delight to see such sensitive pictures of China. The qualiy of textures, and oh those lovely greens. What beautiful natural portraits too, so natural the people are at peace and do not feel intruded upon. The cormorant fisherman is a wonderful series catching sunrise and still with the night light. The birds feathers and the mans cape with the mountains behind. Thanks for a few minutes of pure joy. You inspire me to try to capture images with your sensitivity

Your stuff is somewhere beyond outstanding and superlative... I'm not sure there's a word for it yet. But I especially like the light touch you have with dynamic range. Most who use it overdo it. You don't, and in the process achieve very realistic and natural results.

I just viewed a slide show of your China pictures that is circulating by email. I have never seen pictures that I enjoyed so much. The people are beautiful and the scenery is magnigicent. Gil, the China photos are exquisite. I was in China in Spring of 2005 as well, but my photos certainly are not on a par with yours. If you are as talented a physician as you are a photographer, your patients will be in very good hands!

As you have seen I like a lot the sunset and bluehour pictures and also the pictures with water.But, I compare with some of your pictures and I wonder how I can get so brilliant and wonderful colors in the pictures. Some advice about exposure ? Can I get this with pro-camera ? Or do you use Photoshop or a similar program to enhance your amazing pictures? Regards.

I am trying to sort out a better filing system for myself, including saving an original version of every shot and a "web" version with a copyright and caption etc...
